Winning the Storylines Janice Marriott Mentoring Award

Pressing the ‘send’ button was both nerve wracking and exciting, but I did it.  I had been chewing over this script for eons. I had to let it go. Que será, será.

I was on a school trip in Palmerston North when I got the call. Winning the Storylines Janice Marriott Mentoring Award for me was mammoth! A kid in the van said, “…has someone had a baby Miss?” His reaction – to my reaction. This award has given me the confidence and reassurance that I can do it. Now I get the opportunity to lose myself in the characters and places that I have been picking apart, unpacking and putting back together again. The writing process; it’s challenging. It’s also incredibly encouraging when you have a safety net in Janice Marriott, my navigator, who gives her time and expertise. This is gold.

If you’ve got something up your sleeve, take the leap. Do it. Writing may be a passion, a hobby, scraps of paper, whatever, just go for it. This mentoring award is a launching pad, that has every chance of turning into something fruitful.
