Tania Scott Sickling grew up in Morrinsville, Waikato. She studied literature and linguistics at the University of Auckland, where she received her MA degree, and went on to teach ESOL and literacy for adult learners. She lives north of Auckland with her husband and children.

Tania won the Storylines Joy Cowley Award for her picture book manuscript, Grandpa versus Swing, in 2020. She loves to read, and continues to write in any spare moment and on any scrap of paper she can find. She finds inspiration in the charm and chaos of everyday life with children.
