Sarah lives with her family in Whaingaroa – Raglan – on New Zealand’s wild and wonderful west coast. She works full-time as a writer and holds a Masters degree in publishing.

Sarah’s first book for children, Ella and Ob (Scholastic, 2008), was shortlisted for the 2006 Storylines Tom Fitzgibbon Award. In 2011, Sarah won the Storylines Joy Cowley Award for her picture book manuscript Wooden Arms (Scholastic, 2012), which is also published in te reo Māori as Poupou Tauawhi (Scholastic, 2012).

Her next book, The Bold Ship Phenomenal (Flat Bed Press, 2015) won a Storylines Notable Book Award and was shortlisted for the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults in 2016, in the junior fiction category.

Sarah’s latest book for children, The Spaghetti Giraffe (Flat Bed Press, 2017), is the first story in a trilogy about the adventures of the Spaghetti Giraffe and his quirky friends.

Sarah also writes stories and plays for educational publishers, here and overseas. When not writing, Sarah likes to walk on Ngarunui Beach, visit schools, dream and eat cake.
