Rosemary has been involved with children’s books for over 45 years, through teaching; as a school librarian; a children’s literature consultant freelancing through her company, Getting Kids Into Books; a Collection Development Specialist at National Library of New Zealand and is currently working for Wheelers Books.
Rosemary was a judge for the New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards in 2009 and 2010.
As a committee member of the Children’s Literature Association (CLA), she served on the transition committee which merged the CLA and the Children’s Book Foundation in 2000 to become Storylines. She was a member of the Storylines Foundation (now Friends of Storylines Ngā Pou o te Whare Waituhi Tamariki o Aotearoa) management committee and Storylines Festival committee from 2000 to 2018. She was also a long-standing and committed trustee of Storylines Children’s Literature Charitable Trust Te Whare Waituhi Tamariki o Aotearoa.
With Dr Libby Limbrick, she co-directed IBBY NZ’s hosting of the 35th International Congress of IBBY in Auckland in August 2016.
At the end of 2025, Rosemary stepped down as a Trustee of the Storylines Trust Board and continues to support the Trust in an advisory role.
