Profile

Kiri Lightfoot

Kiri Lightfoot is an Auckland based author and actor.

Born in the UK, Kiri came to New Zealand as an infant and has lived mostly in central Auckland. She is the author of picture books Every Second Friday and Ming’s Iceberg and is now working on novels for young adults.

Kiri has always had a love of children’s books and was known for taking babysitting jobs based on how many books they had on the bookshelf (which she would continue reading once the kids were in bed!). Kiri is now a mother of three school-aged children herself and has worked as a scriptwriter in children’s television and as an actor both for theatre and screen. She continues to work part-time in television production and also runs poetry sessions in aged-care homes and hospitals with her work for Active Arts.
