Annelies Judson

Annelies is a children’s poet and writer based in Tāmaki Makaurau. She is a fan of cooking, cricket and her kids (not in that order). She also loves the em-dash, data visualisation and puns. Her debut picture book, Turkey Hurly-Burly, was published by Scholastic NZ in 2025. She has poems published internationally, including in Tyger Tyger Magazine and The Dirigble Balloon. Alongside her writing for children, she is also a children’s book reviewer, freelance writer, and primary school relief teacher.

Annelies has the auto-immune condition alopecia, which means she has lost all of her hair. She often shares her experiences of alopecia when she goes into classes and schools.
