Ko Tainui te waka. Ko Rangitoto te pae maunga. Ko Waipā te awa. Ko Maniapoto te iwi. Darryn Joseph is a senior lecturer at Massey University. Darryn has had five chapter books published in te reo Māori, Hewa winning the LIANZA Kura Pounamu Award 2010.

He was invited to the Storylines Book Tour on the 20th anniversary in 2013 and said it was one of the most rewarding experiences as an author of children’s literature. His academic and personal interests extend to picture books, youth fiction, and graphic novels. He’s been a judge for Ngā Kupu Ora Aotearoa Māori Book Awards and has twice been judged by Pikihuia Awards for Māori Writers to be a winner. He’s been a school trustee for five years and became a Storylines Trustee in 2017.
