Profile

Nikki Slade Robinson

Nikki Slade Robinson has always wanted to ‘do’ picture books, so grew up drawing copiously on almost everything everywhere. Once she could read and write, she began playing with words alongside pictures. And of course she devoured books! Christmas always seemed to bring a nice big fat newsprint pad and a roll of sellotape, maybe some felt pens.

She entered the picture book world through illustrating – first for Scholastic, then for other publishers. Penguin published my first book as author /illustrator, That’s not Junk!.

Nikki says she “loves the creative process. It’s a thrill seeing the finished product, and I love being able to work in my own studio and set my own hours – even though at times they can be very very long!”
