Liz Weir was born in Canada, the tenth in a family of 11 children. After completing her teaching degree, Liz worked at an outdoor education school but was lured to New Zealand in 1986.
While working as a Children's librarian in Christchurch, she discovered the wonders of storytelling. In 1999, she moved to the country and began working as a professional freelance storyteller. Since then, Liz has worked throughout New Zealand and overseas telling stories in schools, pre-schools, libraries, and at camps, museums, festivals and other public events. Liz enjoys working with puppets and often uses a variety of puppets to help tell her stories. She regularly facilitates workshops for teachers, librarians and parents.
