Mary Kippenberger is a storyteller and children’s writer who lives in the Hawke’s Bay with her husband and co-performer Peter Charlton-Jones. They hold an annual music festival, record music, and hold workshops and performances at their property, Te Rangi. Mary had been a horse trainer, a primary school teacher, and a social worker before becoming an actor and then a storyteller.
Mary is known as a riotous and vibrant performer who also makes her audiences think. She has also written several picture books. Mary teaches storytelling workshops for librarians, teachers and anyone working with children and tells her tall stories at schools, libraries and festivals in New Zealand and overseas.
