Juliette MacIver

Juliette MacIverFirst published in 2010, Juliette MacIver is the author of 18 picture books.

In 2017, she won best Picture Book at the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults for That’s Not a Hippopotamus! She has made the shortlist on three other occasions, for Gwendolyn!, Toucan Can!, and Marmaduke Duck and the Marmalade Jam.
Other awards include the Storylines Notable Book Award, which she has received five times, the Joy Cowley Award for which she has been shortlisted four times, and once for the Australian Crystal Kite Award. In 2017, That’s Not a Hippopotamus! made the shortlist for the Florida Reading Association Awards in the United States.

Her books are available in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK and the USA, and she has had five titles translated into Mandarin for sale in China.

Juliette also teaches yoga and looks after her four children in a sunny house by the sea.

Storylines Trust Te Whare Waituhi Tamariki and Friends of Storylines Te Pou o Te Whare Waituhi Tamariki together form New Zealand’s only national organisation working year-round to promote New Zealand children’s and young adult literature through activities that include a major national Story Tour to schools, early childhood centres and communities, and awards for writers, illustrators and those who work in the area of New Zealand children’s literature
