Jacob Leaf

Born in New Zealand in 1975, Jacob was educated on the West Coast at Ross Primary and Hokitika High School where he bacame interested in animation before going on to Otago Art School where he graduated with a BA. During his working career Jacob has tried jobs such as sphagnum-moss picking, possum tracking, working in a saw mill and being a fitter and turner before he got into film work where he was involved in set construction and striking (pulling down) for Lord of the Rings. This was followed by computer visual effects also for Lord of the Rings, as well as for the TV series Xena Warrior Princessand Cleopatra 2525. Evil Fred was Jacob’s first book illustration. Since then he has worked on other book cover design including the new covers for the Finn’s Quest series by Eirlys Hunter Currently he is an animator on Power Rangers, a Japanese children's show where he enjoys bringing images to life.
