Sara Acton

Sara Acton was born in the Cotswolds in England and always loved drawing, especially people and other strange creatures. She studied Fine Art in Hull and after graduating decided to train as an art teacher, completing a postgraduate diploma in Art Education at Goldsmiths in London. After teaching art for many years in England she moved to New Zealand with her family where she continued to teach art to children, as well as creating her own artwork in her studio.

Sara enjoys drawing and writing for children and has always wanted to illustrate children’s picture books. She was recently shortlisted for the 2010 Gavin Bishop Award and the 2009 and 2010 Joy Cowley Picture Book award. Sara is currently working on a picture book for Scholastic.

Sara is represented by Margaret Connolly and Associates.
