The Children's Literature Foundation was established in 2000 following the amalgamation of the Children's Literature Association (established in 1967) and the Children's Book Foundation (established in 1989), both organisations promoting literature to children and their schools, libraries and families. It was renamed the Storylines Children's Literature Foundation in 2005.
The Foundation's members include parents, families and grandparents, authors, illustrators, publishers, teachers, booksellers, librarians, budding writers and other professionals in the fields of reading, writing, publishing, and literacy. Together they work with the Storylines Children's Literature Charitable Trust
to promote the value of books and reading for children and young adults, and to support the development of New Zealand children's literature.
Storylines Management Committee
Members of the Foundation are elected to the Storylines management Committee at the AGM each year. The MC works with Executive Officer Gillian Wess and Festival manager Vicki Cunningham to carry out the Storyline Trust’s mission of promoting books and literacy to New Zealand children through its national Story Tours, awards, promotions and other activities.
These include discounted fees for Storylines award entries and most ticketed events. In 2016 Storylines members are offered a special discount for Early Bird registration for IBBY's 35th World Congress being held in August in Auckland.
