Malcolm was born and raised in Auckland and is committed to seeing the heritage and cultural importance of the region’s historic places better known and valued. He hopes that books such as his The Castle in Our Backyard will inspire not only Aucklanders, but also New Zealanders in general, to understand and care for our unique heritage places.
