Brian O'Flaherty is passionate about the New Zealand environment. He grew up in Rotorua where he spent his free time exploring the Bay of Plenty coast and the central North Island's lakes, bush and mountains. He has a degree in philosophy and literature from Victoria University and trained as a teacher in London. He taught for six years in Tokyo and began writing. He works as a book editor on educational, fiction and non fiction books. He lives in Auckland.
