Helen McKinlay

Helen_McKinlay.jpgHelen was born in Wellington and later trained as an RGN at  Auckland Hospital and a midwife at St.Helen’s in Wellington. She attended Auckland and Victoria universities where she studied arts, and later at Massey, did a Grad Dip Business (mediation).She has worked as a nurse /midwife in city and rural hopitals overseas and in NZ. In between, she tried her hand at other occupations including grape picking, goat breeding, running a tiny rural library and music teaching. She has worked as a professional mediator and taught conflict resolution in schools. Helen is a published poet and live poetry enthusiast and currently organises a monthly event for poets of all ages and stages. Helen has two grownup daughters. At present she is based in Christchurch.
