Diana Menefy Diana was born in Christchurch, trained as a nurse, then married Keith Menefy. They are retired dairy farmers and still live on the farm in Tapuhi, north-east of Whangarei. They have three children and seven grandchildren.Diana started writing and was first published in the late 1970s. Since then, she has had a steady body of work published, mainly non-fiction, but has had short stories for adults broadcast and published – the most recent Waiting for Anna Kate published in Takahe this year. Her first story for children was a Ready to Read called Greedy Gull published in 1980. Since then she has stories and articles published through Learning Media on a regular basis. Her first junior novel, River Crossing, was published by Reed in 2001. Her second, Shadow of the Boyd, is due out in October with HarperCollins. Diane has been actively involved in the writing world since the mid1990s. She teaches writing for NorthTec, is on the committee of the Northland branch of NZSA (PEN Inc) am is involved in Storylines and the NZ Book Council’s writer’s in schools scheme.
