Stacy Gregg
The former fashion editor of Sunday magazine in the Sunday Star-Times, and the founder of cult fashion website runwayreporter.com, Gregg is best known in New Zealand as a formidable, no-holds-barred fashion writer. She has been a specialist fashion journalist for nearly a decade now, attending fashion weeks in London, Paris and Sydney as well as attending every New Zealand Fashion Week for many years. Now she’s swapping the Christian Louboutin heels for riding boots with the publication of her tween-age pony fiction series Pony Club Secrets. The idea for the series first began when Gregg’s daughter was a three-month-old baby. Working from home as a freelancer, she found conventional journalism too hard to fit into a newborn’s timetable. Her partner Michael suggested she turn her hand to fiction instead and write a series of pony books based on her own experiences of growing up horsey. Gregg had always been horse-mad. She was determined to have her own pony from an early age and saved up every cent to buy one. When the family finally moved to the Waikato countryside a string of ponies followed. Those ponies provided the inspiration for Pony Club Secrets. When HarperCollins committed to the Pony Club Secrets series Gregg discovered she had too many projects on her plate so they sold their fashion website runwayreporter.com to Australasian publishing group ACP. She now works part-time on the website for ACP and spends the rest of her time researching and writing her pony books.
