Jill Harris

Jill Harris lives in Wellington (on Tui Road) and is surrounded by bush, sea and birds. Her first book Sil received an Honour Award at the 2006 New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children. Jill is also a liturgist who creates rituals and ceremonies for people who no longer go to church.

After many years spent as a teacher, librarian, mother and grandmother, her years of reading children's books inspired her to write one of her own. The tuis in Jill's new garden inspired the story of Sil the tui.
