Esther GlenAlice Esther Glen (1881-1940) was born in Christchurch, second of 12 children. She became the children’s page editor at the Christchurch Sun from 1925-1935. Her first book Six Little New Zealanders (1917) has become a New Zealand classic. In 1945 the Library Association of New Zealand (LIANZA) established the Esther Glen Award (now Medal) for most distinguished contribution to children’s literature in commemoration of her achievements.
