The Storylines Children’s Literature Charitable Trust seeks an Executive Officer to lead its team of dedicated workers in the cause of promoting children’s books, reading and literacy.
The Trust, together with its associated membership arm, the Storylines Foundation, is a national children’s literature not-for-profit organisation. Based in Auckland, it runs the annual Storylines Festival of New Zealand Children’s Writers and Illustrators in five centres, along with a programme of national awards, publications, events and advocacy. Storylines is also the New Zealand Section of IBBY, the International Board on Books for Young People.
We seek an Auckland-based EO with experience in fund-raising, financial management (including preparing budgets) and strategic planning. The EO will work closely with Trustees, the Storylines Administrator, and the volunteer Management Committee. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with sponsors and funders, other book-related organisations and crucially, volunteers. Basic website knowledge, database management and good spreadsheeting skills are required. Previous experience working in the arts is desirable, but not essential.
The position is part-time, averaging out at approximately 10 hours a week, and it is hoped the successful applicant will be in place by mid-June.
