Special message

A special message from Storylines on behalf of one of our sponsors and supporters from Christchurch:

Yesterday Christchurch Children’s Bookshop was evacuated from its building because whilst it is structurally sound, the concrete block in-fill walls that are falling are too dangerous.

Manager Mary Sangster writes: 'We don’t know how long the engineers and builders will take to come up with a remedy.  Can you please let your Christchurch membership know that we are shut, but we are not dead, we will be trading again asap.  In the meantime they can order from our website and we will fill them from our Auckland shop (no extra freight).'

We are very happy to pass on the message for them, as Mary reports they have 'no way of contacting our customers.  Our email has been redirected to our home, but I have no access to our work computers and our database.  At the moment I can get the orders that come from the website and forward them to our Auckland store, but I can’t get to the site to put a notice up on it – I’m working on that.'

We wish Sheila, Mary and the team in Christchurch all the best – and send similar wishes to all other similarly affected businesses in the city. While we may feel relatively helpless in other parts of the country, one of the things we can do is continue to support Christchurch businesses, especially when they are being as creative as The Children’s Bookshop in continuing to serve customers.
